Norwegian-British songwriter & producer Vorsen shares new single ‘Evil’, a playful exploration of ignorance and burying one’s head in the sand.
Written, performed and produced by Oliver in a tiny room in his East London home, ‘Evil’ features the backing vocals of Camilla Stavely-Taylor and is the first single from his upcoming EP.
Vorsen comments,
“Evil' is a shimmering vignette about yearning for blissful ignorance in the face of harsh reality. A hopeful longing that evokes feelings of warmth and nostalgia”.
Vorsen is the moniker of singer/songwriter Oliver Halvorsen who makes alternative electronic-pop reminiscent of the likes of SOHN, Dijon, Washed Out and Alex G. Having spent his early years in Norway with family exploring mountains and surrounding nature, he then headed to Australia for a stint, before settling in London and immersing himself in its flourishing music scene as part of indie-alternative group NIGHT FLIGHT. Vorsen’s first solo release ’Say All the Right Things’ followed in 2019, immediately landing in triple J’s ‘5 Best New Songs of the Week’ and subsequently was described as “a great debut” and “so special”.
Oliver’s life experience has taught him to appreciate and find beauty in his surroundings, a mantra that is carried throughout his music. His penchant for weaving lush atmospheric textures with percussive elements from his immediate surroundings creates a seamless mesh of his musical sensibilities. Warm, intimate vocals deliver melancholic melodies in a way that is both captivating and uplifting. Oliver continues to successfully juxtapose the emotion in his lyrics with bold and organic production that is simply stunning.
