Houston alt-pop artist keshi has released his latest project 'always', the last instalment to his trilogy of EP's which included 'skeletons' and 'bandaids'.
The focus track, 'B.Y.S', which was featured on Spotify's New Music Friday on release, features beautiful vocals and chilled melodies with the most exquisite range. It's highly listenable, well produced and combines a slick indie pop vibe with R&B feels and a hint of bedroom pop.
The introspective yet versatile 6-track is a testament to the 25 year-olds musicianship. keshi wrote, produced, engineered and played all the instrumentation on the project to ultimately prove to himself that he was capable of doing so. When pieced together, the names of the three EPs describe the cycle of a relationship, which often includes hidden baggage, instant gratifications and a longing for it to last forever.
keshi is the musical moniker of Casey Luong which is a phonetic play on his name. He is fearless when it comes to expressing himself through a song, known for soft yet commanding vocals, lamenting lyrics of lost love and an intrinsic mix of guitar and lo-fi beats.
