New Zealand born, Colorado based singer / songwriter Estella Dawn is making herself known, her work speaking maturity and confidence. Her new release 'I Dare You' is an anthemic pop rock song which features powerful vocals with a hard hitting chorus
Her songs are a mixture of pop, neo-soul and rock, delivered with an open hearted honesty. While her songs bring you close, her voice never lets you go, Estella sings with the melodic command, subtlety and range that spans genres from Billie Holiday to Billie Eilish.
The track is about being an 'I'm sorry' sort of person, you step on them and they apologise profusely find of person. Push in front of them in line and they won't say a word kind of person. You can leave hate, tell them they suck and they will say "you're so right!!!" They will bend until their back breaks trying to please people. But you know what, their done. Done apologizing for taking up space. So go on, push me one more time,
"I DARE YOU."
Estella's story starts with her singing original songs from the booster seat in the back of her parent's car growing up in New Zealand. From a young age she glided naturally into songwriting, piano, guitar, music production and recording so really, Estella has been a musician all her life, whether it has been for personal entertainment or crisis management she has music in her; her head, her hands, her heart. Now there is a richness and depth in her voice that has come with years of hard work and constant singing.
Moving to the USA at age 19 and landing in Denver, Colorado, she released her debut EP 'Dancing Girls' in 2018 which featured a diverse mix of styles from upbeat pop rock to grunge indie. She also shot a music video for the titled track "Dancing Girls" which was filmed in and around Denver and has had showings at various film festivals.
During 2019 Estella released another nine singles in a continuation of her various musical influences and now half way into 2020 and on track to deliver a full length LP by the end of the year, Estella is releasing a new single every 6 weeks.
From the net-soul vibes of 'Cadmium Yellow' (released in January), the "burn the town down" dynamics of 'Hallow' to the attitude heavy anthemic rock of "I Dare You", Estella fuses her powerhouse vocals, story like arrangements and diversity of style into songs that are unique, honest and intimate.
