Dynamic songwriter & multi-instrumentalist bennytheghost has shared his brand new single 'Tightrope', on all digital streaming platforms worldwide. The track, along with previous singles' Say Something' and 'My Boy' are set to feature on his upcoming EP '29 Palms', out later this year via AWAL recordings.
Taking inspiration from a range of artists from Dominic Fike to The Strokes, bennytheghost has delivered a woozy lo-fi indie pop anthem driven by funky guitars riffs and smooth vocals to create a cool and creative track which is both uplifting and anthemic, perfect for the upcoming summer to put you straight in the mood for sunshine and road trips.
He says,
“‘Tightrope’ is such an anomaly of a song for me. Cooper and I made the entire thing in about 2 hours and then spent weeks and weeks making different versions of it and trying to tweak it, only to end up going back to the original demo we made on day one. All of the lyrics even, I wrote as filler lyrics just as placeholder for the melody. It’s so funny, I thought the ‘starbursts and gatorade’ line was so dumb and then we sat on it for a day and just ended up loving the line as well as the whole story because it felt so much more personal and unique."
Originating from Arlington, VA and raised on indie rock bands such as The Killers, Two Door Cinema Club and Arctic Monkeys whilst attending the Duke Ellington school for performing arts in DC and the Frost School of Music in Miami, bennytheghost was super focused on guitar and song writing.
Now living in LA and collaborating with various producers to make contemporary, guitar-driven indie pop with anthemic choruses, his tracks are designed for singing along and raging face at live shows. His material has been featured in Apple Music’s Zane Lowe Radio 1 show, Spotify’s Lorem, New Music Friday, Indie Pop, Anti Pop and received acclaim from many influential tastemakers.
