Afflecks Palace | This City Is Burning Alive

Manchester four-piece indie rock outfit Afflecks Palace have released their new single 'This City Is Burning Alive', as well as announcing details of their forthcoming debut album.

The track features deep rooted indie rock melody soaked in 90's tinged nostalgia whilst adding a hint of psychedelia and The Cure-esque shoegaze to create something truly creative and experimental, but it's a sound that just works. With an uptempo, anthemic chorus and a clear desire to release tracks that will take people back in time whilst offering a fresh and new take on classic indie rock, Afflecks Palace have got a good thing going, with another striking hit to add to their impressive collection.

Formed in Manchester in the summer of 2019, the band are following in the footsteps of the Mancunian greats. The four piece are influenced by The Stone Roses, The Smiths and The Durutti Column, as well as The Las’ melody-drenched garage-pop and Kurt Vile’s unhurried psychedelia.

The band self-released their debut EP, 'Hello. Is Anyone Awake', on their own label, Spirit of Spike Island, in January 2020, with all 300 copies of the limited-edition vinyl run sold out in seven days with no management, radio or PR support. Their sophomore EP, 'Everything Is An Attempt To Be Human' followed in September 2020, peaking at Number Three in the UK Vinyl Chart after all 500 limited-edition copies sold out on pre-order in just nine minutes. Both EPs and the band’s upcoming debut album 'What Do You Mean It’s Not Raining' were produced by Afflecks Palace singer J, mixed by James Kenosha and mastered by John Davis.

Afflecks Palace live debut at Manchester gig institution Band On The Wall was a sell out, with fans travelling from all over the UK and Europe to attend. The band’s first UK tour (self-booked and self-promoted) will kick-off in September 2021, with support from labelmates Pastel.
