Nashville-based singer / songwriter Abigail Rose (who now splits her time between Music City and LA) has released her first single of 2021, 'Out of My Hands'.
Lyrically honest and raw, the track is reflective of what Abigail felt in the middle of the pandemic and was her first co-write over a Zoom call. It's all about letting go of the things you can't control - other people's emotions and what the future holds. Musically, it's an electro / synth-pop mellow track where her vocal takes the forefront against a lush soundscape and an alluring melody.
About the new single, Abigail says:
"'Out of My Hands' was such a therapeutic song to write. I definitely like to be in control, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve learned to accept I can’t be in control all of the time. Realizing some things are out of my hands is the most freeing feeling in the world. I wrote this song with my two co-writers, Ryan Harvey and Chelsea Balan, in one of the first zoom sessions I did at the beginning of the pandemic. Although these lyrics weren’t directly inspired by the pandemic, I think looking back on it now that defiantly impacted the session that day and the way the song turned out."
The period of quarantine wound up shaping a new sound and aesthetic for her music - she started to track her own vocals, playing all of the live instruments in her recordings, styling and creatively directing all of her own shoots as well as editing her own videos. The additional work that started out as a necessity has now became an empowered new era, both sonically and visually.
Abigail is an accomplished songwriter with a few cuts she's written include 'Better Now' by Dutch singer / Youtuber Davina Michelle (13 million+ Spotify streams) and 'Wish It Would Rain' by Londin Thompson. After Londin uploaded a snippet of the single she wrote with Abigail to TikTok, the went viral with over 3 million views, getting comments from celebrities like Millie Bobby Brown, Meghan Trainor, and Tana Mongeau. Her account ballooned from 3k followers to 73k+ followers almost overnight and she was signed to Republic Records because of the single’s success. In between writing for others, Abigail has been releasing her own material since 2018, racking up over a million streams on her solo singles.
